If we also take into account that as much as a quarter to four-fifths of his total written production may have been lost, we are dealing with someone who wrote and drew enough to fill 80 -100 volumes. 

Scholarship and popular manifestation, Leonardo remains an elusive, even enigmatic target, continually moving as we ask different questions about his legacy and look at him from different perspectives. 

The best for which I can hope is that Leonardo himself would have recognized something in the perspective I have adopted here.
